Custom styles for Carousels

Custom styles are now available for article → carousel conversions, allowing you to apply branded designs to carousel posts in the same way you do for image shares.

This helps you keep a consistent visual identity across all your posts.

What are custom carousel styles?

A custom carousel style is a set of branded designs, one for each of the four slide types within an Echobox 'instant carousel':

  • Title slides
  • Image slides
  • Text slides
  • Quote slides

Custom carousel styles are not automatically created from existing custom image styles.

While the Title slide in a carousel uses the same concept as a custom image style, a carousel requires agreed designs for all four slide types before it can be implemented. This ensures visual consistency across the entire carousel.

How do I get a custom carousel style?

Custom carousel styles are available to all Echobox users as a paid add-on.

To request one, contact your Customer Success Manager or Echobox Support. They’ll guide you through the setup process and confirm next steps.

What you’ll need to provide

To create a custom carousel style, our team needs designs for all four carousel slide types:

  • Title
  • Image
  • Text
  • Quote

This is because carousel styles are applied consistently across every slide in the carousel.

Ideally, you should be prepared to share:

  • Design assets in Figma, Photoshop, or Canva, or
  • Clear and detailed definitions of how each slide type should look (for example: layout, colours, typography, and branding rules)

There are no limits on the number of custom carousel styles you can have per account or per Page.

Each slide type can be built using the same tools as a single custom style, so you can add dynamic content like categories, additional text fields or image credits so long as the information is contained in your RSS feed.

What can I do with custom carousel styles?

With this feature, you can:

  • Apply a custom style when converting an article into a carousel
  • Regenerate all existing carousel slides with a selected custom style
  • Add new slides to a carousel and have them automatically match the active custom style
  • Set a default custom style for carousels on a specific Page.

Custom styles are applied consistently across all supported slide types, helping ensure your branding stays aligned from the first slide to the last.

Applying a custom style to a carousel

You can apply a custom style while creating or editing a carousel:

  1. Open the Compose Box with an article
  2. Convert the article to a Carousel
  3. Open the Apply style dropdown
  4. Select one of your available custom styles

Once selected, all current carousel slides will be regenerated using that style.

Adding new slides with a custom style

If a custom style is active on your carousel, any new slides you add – Image, Text, or Quote – will automatically be generated using the correct design for that style.

There’s no need to reapply the style for each slide.

Setting a default carousel style for a Page

You can save time by setting a default custom style for carousels on a specific Page:

  1. Go to Page Settings
  2. Open Templates
  3. Select the Carousel tab
  4. Choose a custom style from the default style dropdown
  5. Click Save changes

Any future article-to-carousel conversions for that Page will use this style automatically.
